When one merchant gets burned, every merchant can learn from it.
OpenTrust is a free, shared notebook where Indian merchants note down mobile numbers that caused them trouble: refused COD orders, callers posing as a bank to ask for an OTP, and the like.
Before you ship an order, check whether another merchant has written something down. It's a community effort, and we're not trying to make money from it.

The problem, in under a minute
POST /api/v1/lookups · 1 check
See what others have noted
Two verified merchants noted the same experience with this number. You see what happened and their notes, never who wrote them.
Noted by 2 verified merchants
An empty list is good news
No merchant has noted anything about this number. A check costs the same either way.
Nothing reported
Reports are unverified observations from individual merchants, not a finding about anyone.

Why this is free
We built OpenTrust because fraud quietly drains honest businesses, and through them, India's digital economy. When merchants warn each other, the same bad actor has a harder time moving on to the next store.
That only works if lots of merchants take part, so we don't charge for it. Every approved merchant gets 100,000 checks. Run out? Write to us, tell us what you're building, and we'll sort out a generous limit.
Built to be careful
- You share only the number
- No customer names, addresses or order data ever reach us, because you never send them.
- Reporters stay anonymous
- Other merchants see what happened, the note and a "verified merchant" badge. Never a business name.
- Numbers are protected
- Matching uses a keyed hash and the stored copy is encrypted. Lookups return only the last 4 digits.
- Mistakes get fixed
- If something was noted in error, our grievance process exists to put it right.

Help us make India win
OpenTrust only works if merchants build it together. Got an idea to make the ecosystem better, a pattern we should cover, or something that's getting in your way? Reach out to us. We read everything.
